Winter Football - How to keep your "Hawks" warm in winter !!!!!
Training
and matches are great fun, but not when you are cold.
Here are some tips to help:
1.
The key to being warm is layers. But what if he wants to wear his favorite football
shirt I hear you ask; great, but put a long sleeve top underneath, e.g. an old
pyjarma top or sweat shirt and a T-shirt, with his football top over the top.
He still wears his favorite football shirt and everybodies happy. This goes
for both training and the match
2. The second key is being dry, so invest in a waterproof "pop over"
top that is both water proof, but also wind proof. JJB Sports have a great selection
under £10. I would recommend the Umbro "Training" range as these
are lite yet stop the wind.
3. They say that 75% of your heat is lost through your head and there is nothing
better than a wooly hat and gloves to keep that heat in. Getting the ball hit
against your legs is another winter fear, so invest in a pair of cycling type
shorts that are worn under their football shorts. These are lite and extend
to just above the knee and can be obtained from cycling shops or Taskers Intersport
also sell them. Some may say track suit bottoms would be perfect, which I agree,
only they loose that football kit look !!!!.This goes for the match and training.
4. We would appreciate it if your player travels to the matches on Sunday in
his team jacket, which he can take off prior to the game, but don't forget the
layers underneath. This promotes team identity as well as keeping them warm.
5. Waterproof his football boots with either a waterproof spray or good old
dubbin, this will keep his feet dry and preserve the leather.
Summer
Football is hot and thirsty !!!!!!!
Playing football in the summer has got to be one of the best times to play, however hot sun and sweat make you thirsty. I often see players arriving with a range of different kinds of drinks
Cartons of juice & plastic bottles-
These are often to small to quench a thirst throught the training session.
Once opened they cannot be re-sealed and often fall over and get dirty when a ball hits them
They are just the right size to fit into your pocket, which is great when the ball hits you and your pineapple juice explodes, soaking you with the sticky liquid
Bottles tops are difficult to undo especially if they are tight and it's cold
When more than one brings the same drink, you have to either argue about which ones yours, or yours gets drunk
Solution
Use a sports bottle of their favorite design, Nike, Addidas, Liverpool, Everton etc............., you can even fill it with the contents of the carton (topped up if small) or the bottle. providing a durable container that they can relate to while they are their and before they leave in the morning, ensuring the drink is not forgotten.
